Snowball Determination

HMP3 Snowball Determinationere in the UK, despite being a relatively small country (compared to places like the US, China and Russia anyhow) we have a wide variance of weather conditions, and we discuss it greatly and enthusiastically.

Yes indeed, up in Scotland and some Northern parts of the UK, they have a lot of snow while we get sunny days here on the south coast of England.

Interesting stuff, eh?

We do go crazy and get excited when it does snow, but we do not get as much of it as many other parts of the country each year. I was hoping to use the fact that Eskimos have hundreds of words for snow in the copy here. Some serious research and googling highlighted the fact that this was a myth that I had fallen for and believed for several years.

Why did I not apply some modicum of critical thinking to such a myth?

Despite this setback, snow is a useful metaphor for my purposes with this hypnosis track. Snow does come in all shapes and sizes, even if there are not Inuit words for every single kind.

At the time of putting this track together, the intrepid fundraiser and TV’s Blue Peter presenter (here on UK TV) Helen Skelton has been travelling across the South Pole raising funds for Sport Relief with another heroic challenge. The reason I mention this is because, in a recent interview that I heard her doing from the South Pole, she said it was tough to ski as they had been for a while as the area was so dry and the snow was like cold powder that they could get no purchase on as they skied upon it.

We know that stuff, don’t we?

The stuff that falls that needs to packed together tightly in a gloved hand to form a proper snowball that we throw at someone with any force rather than it turning to a sort of dust in the air as it is launched.

So then, snow is going to be the metaphor and the basis for this hypnosis track here is aimed at developing determination.

People often refer to an occurrence or phenomena that ‘snow balls’ when it gathers momentum. The sort of imagery gets used on TV that shows how snowballs can start tiny and then become such a force as they roll down the hill, that they blast away all obstacles.

Determination tends to be more about having a sense of purpose and providing a solution for an outcome of some kind. Whereas motivation tends to be the fuel that mobilises us towards something more natural.

Though intrinsic motivation (motivation from within, rather than extrinsic motivation being something external driving us such as monetary gain or kudos etc) is very similar indeed to determination.

I always think of determination as having slightly more teeth gritted when it happens. It is a lot more conscious and purposefully driven. Sometimes it is a means to end whereas motivation sometimes tends to be considered a more enjoyable experience.

Anyhow, we are going to get determined with this hypnosis session. We are going to grit our teeth without the related issues of bruxism, and we are going to roll our sleeves up and we are going to get determinedly in the direction we want to go in…

Wherever and whatever that might be for you. You are going to love this session, it does snowball your determination.

If you want to get more determined about anything, this is for you.

Total Freedom From Excuses

MP3 Total Freedom From ExcusesBlimey, blimey, you’d be amazed at the excuses that I am given from clients in therapy excusing their issues.

Of course, some are very valid and not to be ignored.

Yet in therapy and life, so many people insist on excusing themselves for all manner of behaviours, thoughts, limitations and mistakes.

Whatever it is you want to do in this lifetime, do you have a set of excuses that you offer up to yourself and others that makes it ok not to do those things?

Not to live those dreams?

The word excuse does tend to give the impression of excuses being intentional and purposeful…

Yet many excuses go on under the radar of our conscious mind…

Many excuses happen unconsciously.

We sometimes make it ok to keep on with a limiting behaviour, or doing a negative thing, or not taking some action, or whatever else it might be.

This hypnosis session is all about blasting out and getting rid of old excuses, stopping procrastination and lots of other things besides.

Whatever your excuses are about and whether they are conscious or unconscious, then they need blasting away. You need to be free of them for good.

Let’s crack straight on with it, shall we?

There is NOT the time to waste.

I do not need to explain this one any further.

Banish any excuses with this hypnosis session.

You are going to love it.

From Lazy To Driven

MP3 From Lazy To DrivenOn my diploma course earlier this year, I and the delegates were laughing and joking about how back in the 80s and 90s in English pubs, peanuts and other bar snacks were pinned up on a cardboard promotional holder that had a picture of a scantily clad woman on the back and as more bags of peanuts were bought, more of the lady behind them appeared…

How funny and kitsch.

You’ll see why I mention this later on…

I can remember when I lived and studied in Finland when I was younger and I would walk into University and say hi to the other students on my course. Very often they were fed up with the long winter, the lack of sunlight and would all seem so apathetic and lethargic.

Apathy is probably the polite way of referring to what some people might label as laziness and it describes a feeling most of us struggle with at one time or the other.

Suppose you desire to do something that you know you need to do but presently you do not wish to do. And even though you need to do it, or you feel you must do it, because you don’t enjoy doing it, you prevent yourself from doing this particular thing.

We then feel like we are being lazy, we then maybe even feel guilty because we know we should be doing something else and a vicious cycle ensues.

You know what I mean, don’t you?

Often, it becomes easier to not do something that you know you really should be doing, especially when we have feelings of laziness, apathy, or lethargy or just the common blues…

So with this individual hypnosis session, I share with you a great way to start getting yourself going again and giving yourself a good old fashioned shot in the arm using your brain.

Within the field of NLP, Richard Bandler developed what was known as a submodality change pattern that he calls the Godiva Chocolate Pattern that helps you change your feelings from apathy to desire.

Why did I mention the English pubs with their peanuts?

Because the idea was to encourage people to peel away the peanuts, thus spending money buying the peanuts, and stoking the desire and motivation to reveal the picture of the lady behind the peanuts.

Within this session, we peel away the barriers in your mind, helping you to see the desired outcome.

AND…

We install lots of desire and motivation so that when the session finishes, you are filled with drive, passion and motivation and laziness is a thing of the past.

This session gets you feeling inspired, to the point where you are inclined to be an inspiration to all the others in your life.

It gets you into desirable states, gets your brain working for you, it helps you have some fun and while starting to truly get things done!

Almost as if you are taking those bags of peanuts off the cardboard to reveal something tantalizing behind – those advertisers were clever – they got their peanuts associated with that image and got a wanton desire to remove them all!

Here we use a similar idea to get your brain supplying you with all the desire and action-filled motivation you need.

Enjoy.

Inspiring Hypnotic Encouragement

Inspiring Hypnotic EncoursagementDeliver truly amazing and encouraging messages to yourself…

You’ll become aware of just how good you feel!

The marathon-running bug hit me the year before I decided to run my first.

I watched the TV coverage of all those people running together throughout the streets of London for the London Marathon. The City was just about closed. In addition to the thousands of people that were running in the event, more thousands were lining the 26 miles of the course.

When I started participating in races and getting into marathon training and running, someone said that it is a great idea to write your name on the front of your running vest and throughout the race, the crowds will keep on shouting your name and giving you personal encouragement.

It is such a wonderful tonic on busy races.

It is amazing how different it is to run on a street lined with thousands and thousands of people shouting and encouraging you — compared to running alone on a rainy, cold, dark evening or a grey, windy morning on your own.

I also remember when the world record holder marathon runner, our very own Paula Radcliffe, ran the London marathon for the first time — on every inch of the course, she was greeted with cheers and encouragement that was unparalleled to anything I had seen before at a marathon event. She led within the first couple of miles and destroyed the field. She made the world’s greatest marathon runners look ordinary and herself look superhuman. You just know that everyone watching at home was cheering her on and encouraging her too.

So much is said about being the home team in a football match too, for example, as the crowd supports and encourages their players so much more.

You know what?

I believe that we all need some of that kind of encouragement from time to time.

This is especially true when we want to make positive and powerful changes in our lives for our betterment.

Over the years, I have written a great deal about our internal dialogue.

The point I want to firmly establish here is that if individuals insist on continually telling themselves not to make a fool of themselves in front of others, or reminding themselves how things went wrong the last time, or indicating to themselves how useless they think they are. That internal dialogue is well and truly amplifying a problem and likely to ensure that a similar issue occurs again.

It is!

You knew that much already though, didn’t you?

Take a moment out here to imagine this scenario.

First of all, think of someone that you love; a child or your spouse or best friend or any other dearly beloved person in your life. Imagine that they were trying to achieve something; I mean that they wanted a particular thing to happen or wanted to create something or achieve a goal.

Now imagine that a total stranger came and belittled their efforts.

The stranger told them that they could not do it and they might as well give up! Imagine the stranger said that they should not have tried in the first place and their efforts will amount to nothing!

How would that make you feel?

To understate it, I guess you would feel annoyed at the stranger’s sentiments, wouldn’t you?

You are likely to defend your loved one, aren’t you?

Maybe you’d like to box the ears of the stranger!

So in contrast, what would you say to that loved one to encourage them and support them?

Take a moment out to think about that. How would you encourage them to successfully achieve and apply themselves?

You see, so often the kind of thing that the stranger was saying is the kind of thing that people say to themselves.

You would not tolerate that sort of thing being said to a loved one, as you have just demonstrated, yet you may well be just as guilty and harmful in the way you communicate to yourself. Not just with your internal dialogue, it could be with your belief about yourself and your actions in life.

Encouragement should not just be reserved for sports stars, or babies learning to walk.

We ALL need it as often as we can.

Even if we are not getting as much as we should from others, we can encourage ourselves.

My brother still jokes about the time him and I ran the Bristol half-marathon together a few years ago. We were going for a personal best time at this race and in the last few miles, we were battling ourselves, our aching legs and our lungs that were readying to burst! We encountered a steep hill that most runners were groaning at the prospect of scaling at this late stage in the race. As we got over the hill and carried on speeding along the flat road, trying to catch our panting breath, my brother was laughing at me and I asked him what he was laughing at.

He said, “I was just laughing at you shouting at yourself that you can beat this hill and that you eat hills for breakfast.”

I had not realised that I was so determined and was encouraging myself so much inside my head, that I had said my words out loud!

As a result of encouraging yourself so much more, each time you create some internal communication of any kind with yourself, as you are more and more supportive, this is going to naturally increase your self-esteem and your self-confidence too!

In turn, that builds a stronger foundation for your success and grows your ability to achieve more.

When you use this hypnosis session, for the coming weeks, you get to deliver truly amazing and encouraging messages to yourself and you become aware of how good you feel as a result.

How you behave and the feelings that you have to affect each other. Your behaviour often shows what your feelings are and your behaviours also affect how you feel (and vice versa, of course).

Very often, people think that they have to feel different before they change any of their behaviours.

However, it is often far, far easier to do it the other way around.

An individual that has low self-esteem, for example, may well focus upon things in their life which have failed or gone wrong rather than focusing on their successes, things they have done well or encouraging themselves.

In a given identical situation or circumstance, someone with a high level of self-esteem will look for what they did well, they are encouraging, and continue to remind themselves of their achievement or their success. They use their resources, their own progressive and positive thoughts and successful experiences as a way of continually enhancing their energy and motivation.

This hypnosis session is going to get some of the most tantalising encouragement and good feelings lodged into your brain so that you feel truly wonderful and good about yourself.

Enjoy!

Motivation To Exercise

Motivation To ExerciseWhen people consider exercising, they often go through that phase of rationalizing it with themselves.

You use that language at times, don’t you?

  • “I ought to start exercising.”
  • “I should do some physical exercise.”
  • “I must get to the gym.“

This sort of language shows that exercise is often something we don’t want to do, BUT it is somehow necessary for us to get something else, it is a means to an end and not very compelling.

At the same time –

  • We want to be slim,
  • we want to fit into a different waist size of trousers or a smaller dress,
  • we want to feel fitter when playing with the kids,
  • we want to be able to see our toes when on the scales,
  • we want to be perceived in a particular way – exercise is the means of doing it for many people.

There are very few people that first start on a course of exercise that think to themselves and tell the world around them:

  • “I want to exercise.”
  • “I enjoy exercising.”
  • “I love feeling the sensation of exercise.”

It often takes us a while to develop this perspective on exercise.

Whenever I say these kinds of things, many people look at me as if I am some sort of nutjob. It tends to then feed my motivation to exercise further and keep on doing it.

It is now an intrinsic and automatic part of my life and my day-to-day regimen.

“What?
Is that it Adam?
That is your strategy for getting motivated?
Just keep on doing it until you like it?!”

Nope.

That kind of suggested process is likely to end up as many January gym subscriptions that get used 20 times in January, 10 times in February and then never again.

Many people have an unusual psychological association with exercise.

They think of it as some sort of a chore and think of doing it with some kind of begrudging mindset like it is a punishment; often perpetuated by those that insist on “no pain, no gain” or other outdated 80s idiocy that only deserves to be repeated at select nostalgic moments when refusing to throw away your ‘Frankie Says Relax’ t-shirt.

If you consider exercise to be something you must/should/ought to be doing because you have to lose weight somehow, and you have to sacrifice some comfort and exchange pain, hassle and …

Then, of course, you are not going to be motivated to exercise.

With this hypnosis session, you get a truly magnificent track, that combines hypnosis, mental imagery, association and a bunch of other stuff (excuse the technical jargon) to show you how to get motivated to exercise and end up wanting to do it, feel good doing it, and enjoy exercising – because it feels good really!

I use this process when I get up each morning to train for the numerous marathons that I run each year – it is tried and tested.

I am proud to be sharing it with you here.

If you want to exercise, if you want to enjoy exercising and engage in physical activity, then this is for you.

Go for it!
